A bias is a mental shortcut your brain uses to make quick decisions—but it can sometimes lead you to unfair or inaccurate conclusions.
Fun & Familiar Biases (with examples)
1. Confirmation Bias 🔍 You notice what agrees with you—and ignore the rest. Example: You believe coffee is bad, so you only remember articles saying it’s harmful (and skip the ones praising it).
2. Anchoring Bias ⚓ The first number you see sticks in your mind. Example: A shirt was $100, now $60. Suddenly $60 feels cheap—even if it’s not.
3. Availability Bias 🧠 If you can easily remember it, you think it happens a lot. Example: After watching shark attack videos, the ocean suddenly feels terrifying.
4. Halo Effect 😇 One good trait makes everything about someone seem good. Example: A stylish person is assumed to be smart and successful too.
5. Overconfidence Bias 💪 You think you’re more capable than you actually are. Example: “I don’t need to study—I’ve got this”… and then the test says otherwise.
6. Bandwagon Effect 🎉 If everyone’s doing it, you want to do it too. Example: Buying a trending gadget just because it’s popular online.
Biases aren’t your enemy—they’re your brain trying to save time. But spotting them is like having a superpower: you start making smarter, more thoughtful choices.
